Man crashed car into home after he was shot at, arrest made

Rochester, New York – According to the Rochester Police Department, a man was shot before he crashed his car into a home at the corner of Bloss Street and Backus streets on Thursday morning.
Police have made an arrest for the firing of shots at the driver.
According to police, they found the car that collided with the porch of the house at around 1 a.m., when they were en route to another call. Firefighters soon arrived to put out the flames on the car. No one was injured during the crash.
The driver told police that someone in another car was chasing him and shooting at him before the crash. Soon after, officers stopped a car with two male passengers on Dewey Avenue near Pullman Avenue. The passenger in the front seat ran away as officers ordered them to exit the car.
As the passenger was running, his handgun loaded with 15 shots fell to the ground, police said. After chasing the passenger with the help of the K9 Unit, police took him into custody. The other passenger was also taken into custody.
The passenger who didn’t run away, 20-year-old Nasir Shine, is accused of shooting at the man involved in the crash, RPD said. He faces reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and weapons charges.
The man who ran away from the police, 21-year-old Vincent Montague, faces weapons charges.
On Thursday, both men were taken to Monroe County Jail and will be arraigned in Rochester City Court.
