Man arrested after allegedly holding a gun to child’s head in Wayne County
Wayne County, New York – Following an investigation into a domestic incident, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a Village of Sodus man.
Deputies arrested James E. Wright Jr., 26, on a warrant for the charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, along with other criminal charges.
The charges stem from a domestic incident in which it is alleged that Wright had a woman drive him to the Village of Newark, where he held a gun to the woman’s child’s head, burned the woman with a cigarette, and threatened to shoot the child if she moved.
Wright allegedly continued to assault the woman by hitting her with the gun, leaving bruising on her arms and legs.
According to officers, when they attempted to put Wright Jr. in the back of the vehicle for arrest, he began to kick and spit at the officers.
Wright is also being charged with second-degree Obstruction of Governmental Administration. He was taken to the Wayne County Jail to await CAP arraignment.
