Local high school athletes donated gifts to Golisano Children’s Hospital patients
Rochester, New York – Primetime585 is a local nonprofit that uses sports as a bridge to impact the community.
Primetime585, the nonprofit organization partnered with area student-athletes to provide gifts for sickle cell patients at the children’s hospital.
In 2021, the organization helped feed 607 families at Thanksgiving, for Christmas is providing gifts and coats for patients in need. Primetime585 partnered up with sports teams to help coordinate, wrap and deliver the toys and coats.
“When I say we’re a bridge, to see our kids, ‘cause 80% of this was run by kids, athletes from all over from HFL to Webster to Victor to Penfield, when you see kids taking charge and running an event and you see athletes on top of that doing that, that’s what we’re all about,” said Karen Iglesia of Primetime585.
Athletes throughout Monroe, Wayne, and Ontario counties helped to deliver the gifts. The organization donated 300 toys and coats to patients. Primetime585 and its volunteer athletes also donated additional toys to restock the toy chest on the sickle cell unit at Golisano.
