Governor Kathy Hochul announces funding to help families pay for childcare in NY State

Albany, New York – On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a $2 billion investment in subsidies to provide $9,000 for each child who qualifies.
The state is also broadening the eligibility for child care help.
Before, a family of four making up to $55,000 a year qualified. Now, families making up to $83,000 a year are eligible.
“It says to the family you’re not on your own,” Hochul said. “This does not all have to come out of your pocket because it just doesn’t add up. You’re earning minimum wage and you’re spending up to $27,000 a year for a preschooler and an infant? Ok, do the math. That does not work at all.”
In order to let families know about the additional childcare help they may be eligible for, the state is launching a multimedia marketing campaign.
