Gates Police Hand Out Christmas Poinsettias Weeks After Noel Drive Explosion

Gates, N.Y. – It’s been two and a half weeks since an explosion on Noel Drive in Gates leveled an entire home.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the entire neighborhood felt the shock.
That’s why Gates Police were there Wednesday evening, going door to door, meeting with the 30 neighbors there to give each of them a Christmas poinsettia.
A local Gates business donated the flowers to the police department, and the chief says they just wanted to bring some joy to a neighborhood that so recently dealt with such an ordeal.
“These neighbors have been very traumatized by this. As you saw from that video, it was a very traumatic explosion that took place down here. And we’re just here to show them, to let them know that we appreciate them and that we support them in their Christmas season here,” said Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode.
Police say they expect to complete the investigation into the explosion sometime next week.
