Democrats get behind $908 billion relief plan introduced by Reed, Problem Solvers Caucus

Democrats are getting behind the COVID-19 relief package introduced by the Problem Solvers Caucus earlier this week.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to act on the bill, which would see $908 billion used to end stalled relief talks.
The smaller bill was viewed as a compromise, but President-elect Joe Biden called it a down payment on future economic relief.
“I think that the average hairdresser is getting $186 a week, most of us have to pay our health insurance out of pocket which you know, it’s not cheap. It’s $400-600 a month for health insurance in New York State and for me, myself personally… I’m paying about 10k a month to keep my business alive,” Jordan Betts told News10NBC. Betts operates NEED Salon, which is located in Rochester.
That story isn’t unique, with business owners around the Finger Lakes and Central New York calling for action, if economic restrictions are going to be put in place. The situation is made worse by growing COVID-19 infections, as more get sick and hospitals inch closer to capacity.
